Internship Description

The State Diamond Trader is a state-owned entity established in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Amendment Act, 29 of 2005.

We invite self-motivated and suitable graduates who wish to stand out in their field to apply for the following internship vacancy.

Position Name: Diamond Valuator Trainees
Duration: Two (2) Year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: R180 000 p.a

Key Accountabilities: 

The trainee will be trained and developed on skills that will enable him/ her to:

• Sort and value rough diamonds,
• Understand the transformation of rough diamonds into polished diamonds,
• Recognise producers and/or geographical characteristics of rough diamonds,
• Understand the basics of diamond manufacturing,
• Gain an understanding of the diamond pipeline from mining to consumers,
• Gain an understanding of the administration that goes with rough diamond production management,
• Gain an understanding of the dynamics of the South African and the world diamond markets.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics passed by 50% or Mathematics literacy passed by 70%.
• National Diploma / Degree in:
  • Economics or
  • Business Management
