Learnership Description

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo offers Horticulture Learnership to unemployed South Africans with a Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent residing in the Johannesburg region. The ages must be between 18 to 35 years. The duration of the learnership will be Twelve months (12 months).

Stipend: R3 500 per month.

Training will be provided in the following:

• Health and Safety in Horticultural Environment;
• Identification of plants and cultivation & care of ornamental plants;
• Condition & prepare soils for planting;
• Use fertilizers on plants;
• Chemical and mechanical removal of weeds and alien plants;
• Mixing and application of herbicides and pesticides;
• Laying and maintenance of grass sods;
• Mowing lawns and Pruning plants.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate or NQF L4 
• Must be a South African citizen
• Must be between 18 to 35 years.
• Must be currently unemployed
